Chinna chinna aasai
This was the conversation i had with my mom yesterday afternoon.
Me: Amma, The weather is too good. I feel like sleeping under my thick bedsheet.

Mom: You know, you should not sleep during such rainy afternoons.

Me: Why amma?

Mom: It was on a rainy afternoon during her sleep that Sita dreamt of Ravana taking her away from Rama.
Thats why.

Me: Oh! Then i will try to dream of that. It would be really cool if Ravana comes and takes me away to Srilanka! Wow..i would love it..

Mom: First find a Rama who can come and rescue you over there and then sleep..

Hmmmm. If you are still wondering what is wrong with me.. It is that i just love Srilanka for no reason.
I just dream of that day when i feel small before the magnificient statues of Lord Buddha there.
It is one of my chinna chinna aasai-s.
Infact after reading Ponniyin Selvan, this small desire of mine has become multitude.

For me it is an unexplainable love for the tamils there. I'm not any regionalists. But I think they are very sweet and somehow have the 'paavum' feeling for all the trouble they are going through. And of course, their tamil itself. How so beautiful!

I Gotta read it ;/

Yeah, i agree. Their tamizh is very beautiful.
I miss the Ceylon radio channel (Ilangai oliparappu kootu sthapanam) over here. Have you watched their TV channel - 'Rupavahini'?
I've grown up watching the cartoons and Tamizh programmes in that. Probably that is how i developed a love for Srilanka in my sub-conscious mind.

One of the reasons why 'Kadhirkaama kandhan' of 'PapanAsam sivan' is my favourites is that it is abt the deity in Kadhirkaamam which in Srilanka.

Grab a chance somehow to read 'Ponniyin Selvan'. It is a great experience to read it. I used to get those characters in my dreams when i read it non-stop for a week.

Kadhirkaama kandhan'
The only time I've heard the word Kadhirkaama kandhan was in Thenaali (Kamal's deity guarding him against his fears. Provided whale of a time with the Vel of his)

Yeah true. He indeed 'provided'. :)

I feel the Sinhala (Ezhlam) accent and Palakkadu accent sound a bit similar.
For example, in the movie 'Naladhamayandhi' where Madhavan speaks 'Palakkadu tamizh' and the heroine speaks 'Ezhla tamizh', i sometimes felt both of them talked with the same accent.

More about 'Kadhirkaama kandhan'.. It is a beautiful song in Kambodhi which i learnt from Shri.Ashok Ramani. He used to tell us that whenever he goes to visit M.S amma, she used to ask him to sing it for her.

Oh, yeah! It s a lovely song in MayamAlawagowlai from Nizhalgal.

Travelling is also fun if you have the right company. I am a bit lazy, so i always stress on taking breaks in between to snatch a good nap. Any trip is more rememberable if the photos taken during the trip turn out to be good..:D
